Phil was the founding Chairman of Xero Limited, one of New Zealand’s most successful publicly listed technology companies, and retired from Xero’s Board in July 2012 after five years’ service.

Phil’s current director roles include the Independent Chairmanship of Loyalty New Zealand Limited and Chair of NZAX listed VMob Group Limited. He also holds director positions in several other SME’s. Phil is Managing Director of Nortek Management Services Limited, a boutique business advisory firm providing investment banking, strategy and governance services for growth companies.

He has over thirty years of experience working with small and mid-sized companies in several industry sectors and has been an owner, manager, director and investor in several local and international businesses. Phil served as Chairman of the New Zealand Venture Capital Association during 2002 and 2003 and was for six years a member of NZTE’s New Zealand Beachheads Advisory Board, resigning in June 2010.

Grant co-founded Straker in 1999 with his wife, Merryn. Along with Merryn, Grant was the winner of the 2018 master category for NZ Entrepreneur of the Year.

Grant has extensive experience in the language translation market, wide-ranging technical, sales and business skills, combined with his strong entrepreneurial drive, have placed him in an ideal position to help accelerate the growth of Straker.

He is of Māori descent from the Ngāti Raukawa Iwi and served as a paratrooper in the British Army before founding Straker.

Grant is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors.

Steve is a former partner of Ernst & Young. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the U.K. and has operated within the IT and finance industry in New Zealand for several years. Steve has been working with technology companies across a range of industries.

Paul Wilson

Paul has had extensive private equity investment experience as a Director of CHAMP Private Equity in Sydney and New York. And Along with MetLife in London, and as Executive Director at media-focused investment group, Illyria Pty Ltd. Paul is Chairman of SiteMinder and iPRO and a Director of Viocorp International, Yellow Pages (New Zealand), the Rajasthan Royals IPL cricket franchise, and ASX listed Vita Group Limited. Paul has a B. Bus, Banking and Finance from QUT and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia, a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Tim was a co-founder and Director of ValueClick Japan KK in 1998 alongside business partner Jonathan Hendriksen who was the founder and CEO of ValueClick Japan KK.
Tim founded ValueCommerce Co. Ltd. (Formerly Trans Pacific Inc.) in 1996. Mr Williams is one of the original pioneers in the Japanese Internet and advertising industry. His vision and record of achievement are mirrored through the success and growth of ValueCommerce. He came back to Transpacific Inc. with a vision to develop a performance marketing platform as a new project which launched in November 1999. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of ValueCommerce and focused on M&A and other strategic business development opportunities for ValueCommerce.

Tim has served as the Chairman of ValueCommerce Co. Ltd since 2006. He has been a Director of The Icehouse Limited since June 2012. Tim graduated from Canterbury University with a BSc in Molecular biology.

Amanda was appointed as a Straker Director on 20 July 2020. She is an experienced executive with extensive experience in the technology sector including more than 15 years in executive leadership roles. She has expertise in finance, transformation, strategy, corporate investment and M&A, and has a proven track record as a change agent in high growth companies. Until recently, Amanda was Group CFO, Company Secretary and Head of Transformation and Strategy for Datacom Group, New Zealand’s largest technology company. At Datacom, Amanda was responsible for finance, strategy, commercial, legal and risk operations across the Group.

Prior to her role at Datacom, Amanda spent ten years at IT consulting company Zag Limited (formerly Soltius NZ Limited), including seven years as CFO and Company Secretary. In this role, Amanda had leadership of finance, people, technology, and commercial operations and helped drive the Company through its early stage growth. Amanda is a full member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ) and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
